Six hours from installing Revit to a 12-sheet design drawing pack

Six hours from installing Revit to a 12-sheet design drawing pack. I did not draw a single line.

The test case was a chalet I designed about ten years ago. The only input was three floor plans, as images, with no dimensions.

The workflow:
1. Revit connected to AI through MCP (Model Context Protocol), so the model is driven directly, not through exported files.
2. Claude built the model from the plan images: walls, doors, windows, floors and roof.
3. A second AI session produced the documentation: views, tags, dimensions, room tags, sheets, door, window and material schedules exported to Excel, and the PDF set.
4. Renders used Revit 3D views as the base.
5. Independent AI reviewers checked the set over seven rounds until no major issues remained.

Excluding installation and testing, the unguided working time was about three hours. The output sits at roughly RIBA Stage 2 depth: plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, schedules and visuals at 1:50 and 1:100. For a first run, that is a strong result, and each run feeds the next.

Independent AI reviewers checked the set over seven rounds until no major issues remained.

The same session also produced a Revit library built as the work progressed (title block, tags, view templates), a recorded process for teaching, and the method written up as reusable Skills.

What it does not yet do well: infer scale from undimensioned drawings, resolve a roof plan, or address Building Regulations. Every sheet is marked Not for construction, and the "Checked by" field was left blank deliberately.

That field is the point. Under the Building Safety Act, competence and accountability sit with named people. As drawing production becomes largely automated, the architect's work concentrates on two things: design judgement, and the signature that carries responsibility for it.

Renders are AI generated from the Revit model.
